In The Beginning Carol Taught Tom. Back in May of 1990, a woman by the name of Carol Madsen started a unique school. She called it The Healing Arts Center. In those days, HAC was located in the 700 block of DeMun. It has moved three times since. First to Maplewood at the intersection of Manchester Road and Sutton. Then to its location on Big Bend Boulevard. In 2013, The Healing Arts Center moved to its current location at 10073 Manchester Road in Warson Woods. A lot has happened in the past quarter century. In 1997, Carol Madsen decided to move with her life partner to Hawaii and suggested that Tom Tessereau consider taking over the center. Tom had been one of Carol's students, perhaps "disciple" might be a better word, and the rest is History. Tom has stewarded The Healing Arts Center all these years guided by the sacred trust that it was to succeed Carol.
HAC Graduates Are Healing People Everywhere. In the nearly twenty years that have followed, Tom Tessereau has become a local legend. He has been the headmaster at an institution that has produced more licensed massage therapists than any school in the region. His students have gone on to start their own professional clinics, spas and salons. Some have even started their own massage therapy schools. There is not an employer of massage therapists for two hundred miles that does not know The Healing Arts Center as the premiere educator of hand healers. Almost every company who employs massage therapists in that same radius has at one time or another hired a Healing Arts graduate. Like a Rock. Over the past twenty-five years, The Healing Arts Center has stood the test of time. While massage therapy programs have come and gone, often leaving students in the lurch, The Healing Arts Center has taken in students from bankrupt massage therapy schools an changed the course of their lives. Most of the refugee students from vocational massage schools gone bust were stunned to find out when they got to The Healing Arts Center that massage therapy can be much, much more than rubbing muscles and working joints. Every Healing Arts Center knows the recipe for HAC's secret sauce - personal transformation. Skillful Minds Make Skillful Hands. While other schools may scoff at techniques like Reiki or Pranic Healing, HAC introduces energy work to every student. Every student is taught to meditate. Every student is taught that what comes out of their hands begins in their hearts and minds. For this reason, HAC graduates do not just make people feel good, they bask them in an energetic field of compassion that can be physically experienced. They not only impact physiology, they change consciousness. This is the mission that Tom inherited from Carol and this is the mission passed on to each and every student. We are here to teach our students how to expel anxiety and pain from the human experience and we have done this for hundreds and hundreds of students to the benefit of thousands and thousands of clients. So if you are a graduate, we would love for you to stop by and see us sometime this year. Watch our website and our Facebook feed for special "homecoming" events in the fall. We would invite you to drop us a line and let us know what you are up to these days. You can email us at info AT thehealingartscenter DOT com. But most of all, we ask you to keep shooting lightening out of your hands to expel suffering from the experience of others. This is your calling and we are proud of you all for carrying on this sacred work. David Kenyon, President The Healing Arts Center |
