NRT involves a unique application of pain-free stimuli which causes a response from the nervous system to a targeted muscle which "resets' or reduces the tonus of that muscle to "normal." NRT works by briefly stimulating the mechanoreceptors (specialzed nerve bundles) within a particular muscle. This can be done by asking for a specific movement or hold, or the therapist can tap on a muscle in such a way that causes the receptors to send a special message to the spinal cord. That new message goes through the spinal integrating center which will reset the nervous system so the muscle is optimized neurologically. With the reset, the muscular pain and tightness disappear within seconds. This restores circulation, increases range of motion, releases tension and pain is gone. All in just an average of 2 - 30 seconds. NRT can be applied almost any muscle at any time in your session with a client, and is exceptionally powerful when used as a routine. The techniques are painless for the client. NRT is also easy on the therapist requiring almost no thumb or finger strain which can help extend the life of a therapeutic career. NRT is a practical, rapid and reliable way to increase therapeutic results by increasing range of motion and relieving tension and pain. Saturday, May 14 9am - 6:30pm
