You may find yourself asking: What is cupping therapy and how can it benefit my practice?
Cupping therapy has been practiced across the globe for centuries.  The ancient Egyptians began to use it to treat fever, vertigo, poor appetite, pain and a variety of other health conditions.  Taoist herbalists also used cupping to aid with relaxation, expelling toxins from the body, promoting blood flow, and also many other uses. In modern times, this versatile technique is still used for an array of health conditions, providing an exceptional alternative to drugs and surgery.

Cupping therapy is reputed to increase circulation, relaxes soft tissue, draws stagnation, pathogenic factors and toxins out of the body and releases a many issues that cause pain.

In most massage modalities, therapists most commonly use positive pressure created with their fingers, wrists and body weight to work the underlying tissue.  With cupping, suction is used to provide a negative pressure, allowing you to work by lifting the tissues.  Cupping can be used to relieve acute and chronic pain, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue and is sometimes used to respond to migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite.

This negative pressure can help release soft tissue, scars and restricted fascia in much the same way as myofascial release works and is said to promote healthy blood flow and sedate the nervous system.  Cupping is sometimes used by athletes promote recovery from injury or surgery and an increase in athletic performance.

Cupping requires virtually no strain on the therapist’s body and can provide the tissue renewal, change, and pain reduction that a client is looking for.
You will leave the class with new techniques to market in your practice.  This course is a great addition to any therapist's list of services.  Sign up today to learn how cupping can enhance your massage practice!
