Back By Popular Demand: HAC's Reiki for Everyone Brings Compassionate Touch to the Whole Community4/5/2016
Reflexology Is Open To Non-licensed and Licensed TherapistsReflexology is an ancient alternative therapy that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands, which correspond to all of the glands, organs, and parts of the body. Pressure can be applied to these specific areas by massage therapists, physical therapists, and chiropractors, among others, with the idea that pressure applied to these areas will stimulate the body to heal itself utilizing natural energetic pathways. Reflexology can work alongside conventional Western medicine to promote healing as well as to increase vitality and improve well-being. In addition to boosting the body's natural ability to heal itself, a reflexology treatment can also have the benefit of stimulating circulation, reducing stress, promoting relaxation, and reducing pain. Several studies funded by the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health indicate that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as anxiety and depression, and enhance relaxation and sleep. In addition, the same studies also show that reflexology may have benefits in palliative care of cancer patients. This stimulation of the body's natural ability to heal itself promotes active healing in persons with ill health, and can serve as a type of "preventative maintenance" for healthier individuals. Professional Skills Development: HAC to Offer Lymphatic Drainage For Licensed Massage Therapists2/15/2016 The lymphatic system is sometimes considered part of the circulatory system (often referred to as a "secondary" circulatory system) and a vital part of the immune system, comprising a network of lymphatic vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymph (from Latin lympha meaning water) directionally towards the heart. Lymph is very similar to blood plasma: it contains lymphocytes and other white blood cells. It also contains waste products and debris of cells together with bacteria and protein. Associated organs composed of lymphoid tissue are the sites of lymphocyte production. Lymphocytes are concentrated in the lymph nodes. The spleen and the thymus are also lymphoid organs of the immune system. Collecting everything from dead cells, waste products, bacteria, viruses, inorganic substances, and fats it is similar to a second circulatory system that keeps our bodies clean and defended against infection. Unlike the circulatory system the lymphatic system has no central “pump” to move lymph fluids throughout. Instead it is moved by smooth muscle tissue, breathing, and muscular contractions related to human activity.
HAC Prepares to Get Natural And Take Workshops To A Whole New LevelFor years, HAC Headmaster, Tom Tessereau, has dreamed of having a property suitable for workshops and retreats that would allow students to take in nature, ground themselves to the earth and make use of the energy that is available in a natural setting. This week, that dream became a reality as HAC purchased a 34-acre wooded tract in Cherryville, Missouri. Cherryville is fifteen miles south of Steelville, Missouri on Missouri Highway 19. The new retreat land is easily accessible by wide paved roads in just over 90 minutes from St. Louis. The property was once used as a hunting camp, but will become a refuge for wildlife hereafter. Neither hunting nor fishing will be allowed on the property by anyone. There are reports of bear, turkeys, deer, bobcats, coyotes and possibly mountain lions in the vicinity. HAC intends to make every attempt to minimize the disruption of the space as a natural habitat for these animals. We have seen a significant number of birds of prey in the area as well. The property overlooks a beautiful Ozark Mountain vallley that is home to a very large cattle ranch.
Reiki For Everyone - Comes To HAC in October - No License Required
Reiki is an energy transfer modality that is drawing increasing attention from both the holistic and traditional medical communities. Recommended by the likes of Dr. Mehmet Oz, MD (whose wife is a Reiki practitioner), Reiki is being used in clinics and hospitals around the world and throughout the United States to treat drug addiction, depression and to alleviate the effects of cancer treatment. Reiki does not require a massage or medical license to practice.
The Reiki for Everyone course will be taught by HAC Headmaster and Reiki Master, Tom Tessereau. |
