The Healing Arts Center's upcoming hot stone course on June 4 & 5 includes hot stones, meridian work, Himalayan salt stones, and more!

Hot stone massage is a natural therapy in which warmed stones are positioned on parts of the client's body to maximize the therapeutic benefit.  The Hot Stone Meridian Massage class combines thermotherapy with the artful application of pressure via heated stones along the body's energetic pathways (meridians).  The purpose of this technique is to balance out the autonomic nervous system by strengthening the parasympathetic nervous system.
Heat from the stones helps to soften connective tissue and soothe muscles, while the acupressure techniques help to balance the meridians and encourage further relaxation.  Acupressure is a technique that makes use of the acupuncture meridians, but instead of needles pressure is applied to specific points.

Additional techniques in this course include slow stretches to open fascia and the use of Himalayan salt stones.   The skillful combination of these techniques can be both powerful and relaxing.  Salt is often used to aid in healing and relaxation, and the use of heated Himalayan salt stones instead of the standard hot stones is an innovation known to wash away accumulations of stress and tension.

Many massage therapy and bodywork professionals use either heat or acupressure in their practice, but it is a truly unique professional that skillfully combines all of these techniques creating a powerfully therapeutic and relaxing experience for the client.
