The Real Spirit of Giving: Give The Gift of Touch

Transcending The Season of Things

Picture
The beauty of being a massage therapist is that your hands are gift-giving wonders.   The transcendent beauty of true massage therapy is the enhancement of being that occurs for both the client and the therapist during the therapeutic process.  It may be possible that there are some LMTs out there that deliver massage therapy in such a mechanical way as to reduce the client to a physical object, but we don't know any of those people.  We work inside the world of being where physicality and consciousness merge to create an infinite space of peace and clarity.  This gives us access to perhaps the greatest gift that one can give another - the act of helping someone else transcend out of the world of things and into the world of being.  This is truly a priceless gift.
That is why we want to encourage the massage therapy community to step out of the consumer hysteria that dominates the world of things during the holiday season and seriously consider giving the most important gift that you have to give - yourself.   The world is full of anxiety and the people you know are unconsciously stuffing their angst into the tissues of their bodies.  We are being damaged daily by the natural course of events in the world of things.  Everyone you know has anxiety and pain enough and we can do something about it.  So why not offer your healing hands as the gift of the season?  Doesn't that make the greatest sense?   This is supposed to be a season of compassion and good will, of love and contribution.  The world of things is full enough.  Closets and garages are cluttered with gifts that have turned into debris.  What is missing is true compassion and the hand prints of healing.

The Healing Arts Center wants everyone in the massage therapy community to hear us when we say this: You are the gift.   Be that.  Give that.  Get real about it.

For those of you reading this who are not massage therapists and would like to give the gift of massage therapy friends of loved ones, we can help you with that.  Find a massage therapist near you and purchase gift cards for your friends and loved ones.   If you would like to give the gift of touch and help students learn in the process you can click the button to buy inexpensive gift certificates for student massages from our Student Massage Clinic.  If you would prefer, you can also buy gift certificates for our Pro Clinic as well.   Is there a greater gift than health and well-being?
