The Student Massage Clinic
A Student Clinic massage is $35 for a clinical hour (50 minutes).
The Healing Arts Center's Student Clinic is an important part of the practical, hands-on experience required for the Healing Arts Center massage therapy training program. All students must complete 80 hours of clinical practice in the Student Clinic in order to graduate. The Student Clinic is our students' opportunity to hone their massage therapy techniques outside of class and gain valuable experience working on the public in a spa setting. Only students who have completed Basic Technique training can participate in the clinic. The student clinic is professionally supervised, and our team of clinic supervisors carefully match student therapists to client requests so that you can receive a truly great massage while helping our students learn in the process.
Student Clinic massages are $35 for a clinical hour (50 minutes) so anyone can afford to make massage therapy a part of their wellness routine.

Student Clinic Purpose & Policies
- The purpose of the student clinic is to allow our students the opportunity to practice and refine their massage therapy techniques outside of class and in a professional spa setting. This is a valuable learning experience as they progress through their training and prepare for their career. We offer a student clinic massage to the public at the discounted rate of $35 as a thank you for helping our students learn through the written feedback you provide at the end of the session.
- Student Clinic hours vary from session to session based on the needs of our student population.
- Clients are required to complete a client intake form that includes medical information such as medications, recent injuries/surgeries, and other medical conditions. This is needed to help the Clinic Supervisor and the student therapist understand any underlying conditions. The intake form will need to be updated every 2 years.
- Students in training: the students that you are receiving a massage from are in training. Clients should refrain from casual or personal conversations to allow the student to concentrate on your session. Students will check in for comfort or pressure levels during the massage.
- In keeping with the purpose of the student clinic, clients are not allowed to request a specific student therapist or level of experience (i.e., a Level 5 student) for their appointments. Working on a variety of different body types gives students the opportunity to adapt their massage therapy techniques, depth of pressure, etc. depending on the client's needs in that session.
- Students are required to complete training in basic massage therapy techniques before they can participate in Student Clinic. The make-up of students available for each clinic shift includes a variety of students in different levels of their training. Therefore, technical ability does vary while students progress through the program.
- Student clinic massages are 50 minutes of hands-on massage time (1 clinical hour). 5 minutes or so on either end of the appointment is allotted for therapist/client consultation and for client dressing/undressing. 90-minute appointments are not available in the student clinic.
- Client requests (i.e., female massage therapist, deep pressure, etc.) are noted in the client's account at time of booking. Our Clinic Supervisors work diligently to match students with clients based on the student's technical ability and client requests. However, client requests are not guaranteed.
- Prenatal massage is not offered in the Student Clinic. For prenatal massage sessions, please book in the Professional Clinic.
