Last year, Jane flew to Belgium to be with her father as he was dying. He was struggling against death, a process often colloquially expressed as a "death rattle" - the nearly violent struggle to breathe and cling to life. She put her hands on his head and began a Reiki treatment. She talked to him softly explaining what she was doing while giving him permission to leave this life. He became calm and passed away peacefully in the most loving hands possible. The blessing of this very powerful and compassionate connection to her father in his final hour cannot be underestimated or overstated. We are quite literally brought into this world by the compassionate hands of other human beings and, if we are lucky, we can experience a lifetime of healing in the hands of others as we make our way through life. Reiki is a very intense and intentional healing connection. It is difficult to describe without experiencing it first hand.
Since her father's passing, Jane has successfully treated the migraine headaches of her eldest daughter, the anxiety of and pain of her youngest daughter arising from a near-fatal and highly traumatic car accident as well as provided hospice care to her best friend who recently died of breast cancer. These treatments have provided real relief to those who have received her healing touch and it has given my wife, as well as myself, a sense that we can actually do something about the suffering of others. It has softened the pain of loss and death for her because she has not had to simply sit by and watch loved ones suffer - she can offer real comfort, compassion and care. She has discovered that she can be a global marketing executive for a Fortune 100 company and a healer too. Reiki has been life changing for both of us. While my wife's friend was in hospice, Tom Tessereau and I visited her weekly to provide Pranic Healing and Reiki treatments simultaneously. These treatments restored so much quality of life to this woman that it was often hard to realize that she only had weeks to live. She was mobile, happy and able to enjoy her remaining time with her family and friends to the fullest. Tom has always claimed that every home needs to have at least one Reiki healer in the family and families who do Reiki as a compassionate family practice create uncommonly strong bonds while expelling anxiety and relieving pain. Hand healing of this sort brings families together in extraordinary ways. You do not need to be a professional massage therapist to learn and use Reiki and it is for this reason, the fact that it is accessible to everyone, that The Healing Arts Center offers this modality to everyone. |
